Why Play Music?

Why Play Music

Playing music has been scientifically proven to benefit people of all ages—and, it’s fun to do.

For example, research has found that babies are naturally musical and are intensely interested in music. Toddlers have been found to enjoy singing on their own while they play—even deaf children will sing independently without prompting.

School-aged children who play music do better in school and in life, and teens see music as their “social glue” and as a bridge for building acceptance and tolerance for people of different ages and cultural backgrounds.

Adults who play an instrument—even if it’s just for fun—are able to reduce their stress and use the activity as an emotional outlet. Working adults reduce their chances of job “burnout.”

Seniors who engage in music making can better manage diseases such as Alzheimer’s and Parkinson, and increase their self-esteem.

Payment of lessons

PAYMENT of MUSIC LESSONS: In order to secure placement in a class, payment is required at the time of registration.  At the time of registration, credit card pre-authorization or postdated cheques dated September 1st thru to June 1st will be MANDATORY.  If you wish to pay by cash or interac, we require a credit card imprint for security. Cash or interac  payments must be made in advance by one month. If payment is not received before the 1st of each month; we will process the credit card.

SERVICE CHARGES OF $5.00 per month will be applied to all outstanding fees. If accounts fall 30 days into arrears, music lessons will be denied until the account is brought up to date. This includes cheques returned to us by the bank. N.S.F. fees will be $25.00.

Missed Lessons

MISSED LESSONS:

There are NO CREDITS for missed lessons. A missed lesson will be made up, by the teacher, if a minimum of 24 hours notice is given. If less than 24 hours notice is given, the lesson is forfeited and a homework assignment may be obtained over the phone.

Termination of lessons must be received in writing; one month notice is required. Unfortunately, telephone cancellations will not be considered valid. Students terminating their lessons will have their postdated cheques returned to them, with the exception of the month in progress.
